Awesome news guys – one of the most requested features is here! Now you can check-in event attendees using your Android devices. The free Weemss check-in app is available for download on the Google Play store. It allows you to scan attendee tickets from any mobile phone or tablet on the Android operating system developed by Google.
Using the app is pretty straightforward, because as usual we’ve created a clean and functional interface for your operating pleasure.
- Download the app from Google Play
- Start the app on a device you wish to scan tickets
- Log in using your Weemss credentials
- Select the desired event and check-in list from the menu
- Scan tickets or check-in attendees manually
Since an event can have more than one check-in list, every list is displayed separately. Once you’ve selected the list you are ready to go! By default the app is switched to barcode scanning, but you can use it to manually check-in attendees by tapping “Search”.
And that’s it – fast, easy, and more convenient than ever.
Check-in lists explained
Here’s a quick rundown of how check-in lists work in Weemss. When you create an event, a check-in list is also created and can be accessed from Check-in on the Event menu. That list is automatically populated with everyone who buys a ticket for the event. But you can create your own check-in lists, as well as manage the existing ones.
These lists allow you to handle pretty much every check-in scenario.
For example, if you have a higher tier tickets, let’s call them Balcony (for the balcony seats in a theatre), use the New check-in list button to create a new list and in the Ticket category field assign to it the Balcony category. On the day of the event, the person from your staff at the entry point to the balcony seats will choose that list from the app and only check-in people who have a Balcony ticket.
Another example, if you are organizing a 2-day conference, you can use the New check-in list button to create a check-in list for Day 1 and then create a second list for Day 2 of the conference. Again, if you need to you can assign different ticket categories to the different check-in lists.
Standard barcode (code128) vs. QR code
In Weemss you can choose the barcode type for your tickets by going to Event settings > Ticket categories and pressing the Ticket template button. From the Scan method drop-down menu, choose either a standard barcode (code 128) or a QR code (2D).
If you plan on using the check-in app, instead of a dedicated scanning device, we recommend using the QR code. Mobile devices like phones and tablets scan QR codes faster and easier.
Having a mobile app is an important milestone for Weemss. The iOS version of the app is already underway and coming up next, so watch this space for more Weemss news!
